Marble is a metamorphic type of limestone, originating when the limestone is exposed to high pressure and high temperatures. This explains why the areas with the most marble tend to also be areas with vulcanic activity and high limestone content in the ground. This process produces remarkable, unique colors and beautiful veins in the stone.
In general marble is very durable and resistant to impact, despite being somewhat prone to scratches and stains. Marble has an intrinsic elegance and sophistication and because of its versatility it can be used in several decorative situations, especially in kitchen counters and bathrooms.
